54 years of Sesame Street

54+years+of+Sesame+Street

On this day, 54 years ago, Sesame Street was released. Sesame Street was created to teach kids of all ages, starring Elmo as one of the main characters.

It was about Elmo’s life and all his friends on Sesame Street with characters including Elmo, Oscar the Grouch, Mr. Snuffleupagus, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Count Von Count, Big Bird, Grover and more. Each character has their own personality, with Oscar the Grouch being a grouch who lives in a trash can and Count Von Count being a vampire who loves to count. Sesame Street has been a sensation ever since release, even being seen in the Macy Thanksgiving Parade.

With a lot of rival shows over the years, Sesame Street is still standing. In the 1990s, Barney the Purple Dinosaur was their biggest rival. Sesame Street isn’t just fun for kids to watch. It teaches kids a lot with all the characters. Bert and Ernie were a dynamic duo and it showed kids the way of friendship, with disagreements but still being kind. Abby Cadabby taught kids about imagination and that it was good for kids to use their imagination. With all the characters coming together, it was great for children to learn and help them grow as individuals.
