Two Titans Win Young Authors Competition

Mia Egerman, Editor in Chief

Tuscarora’s very own Ashley Barron and Deven Carter received recognition for their contributions to Frederick County’s Young Author Competition and will receive awards on March 12th at the Central Office. Freshman Ashley Barron wrote “The Thinking Heart”, winning the poem category of the contest. Barron presented a nuanced perspective on love with extended metaphors and symbolism. Junior Deven Carter wrote “Brother”, a winner in the short story category, from the third person limited omniscient perspective about Cameo, a boy who abandons his brother to discover a hidden past. These two pieces of writing will now go to the state level of competition. We wish these young scribes the very best of luck moving forward and a hearty congratulations for their achievements thus far. If you want to read their works, click the links below.
