Chickadee a poem by Hannah Mueller

Hannah Mueller, Editor

Chickadee, chickadee

Where could you be?

I have looked high

And I have looked low

I have searched the city

And I have searched the woods

But somehow

I have yet to cross you.

Your beautiful brown feathers

Serve to decorate and empower,

Your orange tinted sides

Paint a sweet, cozy picture

That brings me comfort.

When things are looking down,

I look to you, Chickadee,

My flying friend from above.

You always help lighten my mood.

Chickadee, chickadee

Where could you be?

It is winter now, isn’t it?

You are long gone

And I am left behind

I hope that wherever you are

It is just as warm

As you have made my heart

Chickadee, chickadee

I wish I had you here with me.
