When entering high school, dating becomes a more common and more serious thing. Many teenager’s idea of a “date” is often going to dinner and the movies. However, a date should be about conversation and getting to know each other to build a relationship, so skip the movie and take a look at this list of 10 fun (first) date ideas!

1. Physical activity: Hiking- There are many trails in our area with beautiful views, including, Sugarloaf, Harpers Ferry, and Cunningham Falls. Also, biking, ice skating, roller blading are all fun and active things to do together.    
2. Dinner and walk around downtown
3. Double Date- If the thought of going out alone with your crush is stressing you out, maybe choose the more comfortable route and go out with another couple or even a group of friends until you’re ready.
4. Bowling and Ritas- Ritas is walking distance from Terrace Lanes, providing a sweet treat for a sweet date. Also, every Friday and Saturday night Terrace Lanes holds Rock n’ bowl, a “party like” bowling experience.
5. Keys Game- During the summer there’s nothing like going to a nice game of baseball on a hot day, and fortunately our own Frederick Keys play almost every week from April-August at Nymeo Field at Harry Grove Stadium.

6. Take them golfing (mini golfing, golf course, driving range)- With many golf courses around Frederick, there’s nothing like hitting a hole in one to impress your date.

7. Swimming at a waterpark, pool, lake, etc.

8. Fishing and Picnic- Don’t just make your date your sweetest catch, spend the day out fishing somewhere and pack a yummy picnic to munch on while waiting for the reel in.

9. Baker Park- Go out and play some tennis, frisbee, or bring out your inner kid on the playground, then with downtown being so close, take a stroll to grab a bite to eat or get some delicious ice cream.

10. Pottery- If you share an interest in art or are just feeling a bit crafty, go out to I Made This and paint some pottery together.
