You may have noticed a new addition to the Tuscarora High School grounds this week, and no, that tree was not always there!
This past Monday, May 13 around 2:30 p.m. Key Club members, headed by President Janet Tesfamariam, got their hands dirty on their May service project to plant a tree at THS. This has been a goal of not just Janet and her friends, but Key Club as whole, for the past year.
Key Club is a student service organization that has been at Tuscarora High School for five years now. Students in Key Club have performed various service events this past year, such as: Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF, Donuts for Heartly House, Thanksgiving Food Drive for the ELC Backpack Ministry, and even an Earth Day Clean up at Ballenger Creek Park.
This past Monday marked senior Janet Tesfamariam’s last Key Club service event of her senior year. It made Janet feel proud to be a part of a project that she had looked forward to for so long.
Thanks to Janet and the rest of Key Club’s hard work, (as well as some guidance from staff members Mr. Hogan and Mr. Karos), you can find Tuscarora High School’s NEW flowering pear tree on the staff parking lot side of the building, in-between the band and chorus rooms.
Perhaps before you leave today, you can pay the new tree a visit and reflect on the beauty of life, service, and community here at Tuscarora High School.
