“The Face of Time”
Kelis Davis
“The Face of Time” is a story about a girl named Persua who is in a dimension running through an hourglass, and only has a fixed amount of time until it ends and starts over.
I ran and ran for hours hoping to find an escape
beneath me is sand that will soon cover me
I wish to find a sense of time to slow down
but all I do is run and run with nowhere to go.
I look side to side forward and back still nowhere.
The sand is falling onto my ankles now.
It’s moving rather quickly.
Though I wish I could escape from the darkness
I can’t.
I’m stuck in an hourglass
A dimension of glass from top to bottom
a plastic cover.
That then is to the sand from where I lay to my arms now .
I scream
“Why must time fly away”
I look around
See a shop outside of the hourglass
Yet I see a elderly man who works on clocks say
“Time does not slow down neither goes fast
but instead goes at a pace you think in your head”
As the sand
is close to my mouth
I try to speak but my head to the bottom of my feet is covered in sand.
Then I am drawn down to a dark hole of emptiness.
I open my eyes and I am in the middle of time all over again.
I ran and ran for hours hoping to find an escape
from beneath me is sand that will soon cover me.
I wished to find a sense of time to slow down
but all I do is run and run.
Nowhere to go I look side to side forward and back,
still nowhere.
