A Few Boredom Busting Ideas during Quarantine
April 2, 2020
The last couple of weeks have been full of surprises and confusion. Being told not to leave your house or hang out with anyone is not something we ever expected to hear from the government. Since we are all stuck in our houses, I’m sure boredom has struck. You can pull out a puzzle, read a book, or spend hours on your phone but what happens when you are tired of those things? I am here to make your quarantine experience a little more interesting!
This pandemic will be talked about for years to come. Our kids and grandkids will be asking us “what did you do during the Covid-19 pandemic?” and I personally think the best way to remember something is to write and take pictures. So with all of this free time, think about what you would tell your future self or your future family and write a letter! All you need is paper, a pencil, and an envelope if you have it. Tell your future self what has been going on or your future kids what you have been doing in your free time. With school online, writing may not sound like the most fun thing to do, but think about how cool it would be if someone gave you a letter they wrote to you before you even existed! Pictures are another great way to tell a story so whip out your phone or dust off that camera you took on vacation years ago and start documenting. It may sound lame to take pictures of your parents working from home or selfies of you in your pajamas, but it will forever be remembered.
Get moving! If you are able to leave your house and walk around the neighborhood or ride your bike then go for it! After a couple of days those family walks might be a little boring, so find workouts online or start a workout challenge. Get a friend to join you in a 30 day pinterest workout challenge or play a yoga video on youtube. Walking is not the only form of exercise available. Maybe you always wanted to be able to do the splits or learn how to dance, now is the time!
Perhaps you just want to lounge around and be lazy which is much needed after all this stressful news. There are so many movies and t.v. shows on Netflix or Hulu that you can dive into. Also, break out those dvd’s and pop some popcorn. You can make your viewing experience a little more interesting by building a fort or making your sibling or pet watch it with you. You can even make a fun snack or drink to enjoy with it. Make a slushy, icecream sundae, or even homemade caramel popcorn! There are so many fun recipes online, so give them a try since you have the time. Lastly, remember to take a deep breath and remind yourself that everything is going to be okay and you can make it through this!
