Beauty and the Beast: Review

Kayla Green

The film Beauty and the Beast was a live-action remake of the 1991 Disney movie of the same name. Which was based on the fairy tale written by french novelist Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. Directed by Bill Condon and Written by Stephen Chbosky and Evan  Spiliotopoulos, featuring many talented actors.

The live-action version of Beauty and the Beast has the same plot as the original animated version. The Prince (Dan Stevens) was cursed and turned into the Beast  by an enchantress because he was cold-hearted and ignorant. Not only was the prince transformed, but so were all the other people living in his castle, the only way to break the curse is for the Beast to learn to love someone and to earn their love in return. Years later, in the neighboring village lived a young girl name Belle (Emma Watson), seen as an outsider by the other villagers, who goes to the castle after her father, Maurice (Kevin Kline), didn’t return from his trip. When she gets there she runs into the Beast and makes a deal to trade places with her father. As the movie progresses Belle’s and the Beast’s relationship turns into an unexpected friendship, that eventually turns into love.

The film itself was amazing, the live action adaptation did Disney’s animation version justice. As you watch the film you can’t help but feel like a little kid. The film captivates you from beginning to end. The film stayed true to the original story line, but they put their own twist in some parts of the movie that really keep the story going. The film also did an impressive job with the CGI work for the Beast and the other characters. The acting was incredible Emma Watson and Dan Stevens in my opinion really capture Belle and the Beast perfectly.

After watching the movie I give the movie 10/10. I really enjoyed how they added their own seen in the movie. I can’t wait for Disney’s next live action movie adaptation.
