Culinary Corner: Chocolate Chip Scones

Ingredients:
- 2 ¾ cups of flour
- 1/3 cup of sugar
- ¾ teaspoon of salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ cup real butter (no margarine)
- 1 cup of chocolate chips
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup of milk
Recipe
- Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder together in a mixing bowl.
- Work in the butter with your hands until mixture is crumbly.
- Stir in the chocolate chips.
- In a different mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, vanilla, and milk.
- Add liquid ingredients bowl to the dry ingredients bowl. Stir until everything has mixed together evenly and holds together.
- Scrape dough onto a baking sheet and divide in half. Form each half into a circle about 6” across.
- Brush the top of each circle with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Use a knife to cut each circle into 6 wedges.
- Separate the wedges on the sheet so they don’t bake together.
- Place in the freezer for 30 minutes, uncovered. Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
