The Darkest Minds
It all started on a Monday morning, Acher woke up weary in the morning to run and start his day, after his run he took a shower and played music and started getting ready for school. Acher danced his way in the kitchen to make his little brother and sister izzy & Nolan breakfast but these wasn’t anything in the pantry so they had Cereal “breakfast is Served eat up so you guys can go to school” Archer said, while his Siblings are eating in the living room watching TV he went to go check on his mom,“mama are you ok? Don’t forget to take your Medicine for today.
I got the kids up already, I’ll see you later” Archer said his mom just waves at him not saying anything as he closes the door and goes to the kitchen and gives His siblings their lunch as they head out the door to catch the bus.
Archer Grabs his book bag and puts his headphones on and starts dancing his way to school feeling good as he nods his head at his neighbors as a way of him saying hey. Archer gets to school and talks to his friends about their grades and is annoyed about it as he turns around and his Counselor tells him that she wants to meet with him as he follows her into the office And she immediately tells him to sit down and he looks at her with an Attitude.
The counselor looks at him and says “look Archer I am not your enemy I’m here to help you you’ve been missing school for days now going to class but not doing your work you’re lucky if I could even help you graduate”,Archer just looks at her wanting the conversation to be over as he says “I know and I do want to graduate to get out of this place”.
Archer and the teacher both agreed that the best thing for him to do is all the missing work that he missed one day at a time and have tutors to help him. She then escorts him back to class as he rolls his eyes when he leaves. Archer spends the rest of the day just talking to his friends and trying to pay attention in class but doesn’t ask for help as his friends tease him and he just leaves early.
Archer goes on a ride with an old friend to clear his mind about school.They go to a house party and have fun until it gets dark. They leave and his friend drops him off at a Gas station close to home where he parked his bike and he goes inside to get a snack as he talks to the owner about what’s been happening with him and how much he hates School as he gets a bag of Cheetos.
The owner says “Don’t worry man it’s going to get better you just need to give it a little bit more time and try your best to focus and ask the people you trust for help don’t let them teachers get you down” and Archer says “man you better be right otherwise ima just leave again”. A Girl comes in the store wearing a glittery ski mask and doesn’t say anything until she pulls a weapon out and tells the owner to give her all the money as he rounds up the cash she goes up to Archer looks at him with a smirk and she turns around and grab the cash and then leaves, Archer runs out the store to catch up to her but she’s already gone as he looks both ways and then gets on his bike and goes home thinking about the whole entire night barely getting any sleep. The next day Archer leaves the house early and goes to the store to see if the girl would go there again but she is not there so he goes to school and sees his friends are talking about a new student.
“Dude the new student is hot but she’s kind of weird and her own way I would totally go for her” Alex said, archer looks at Alex and says “ what are you talking about? we got a new student”, “dude yes We have a new student over there” alex says, Archer turns around and Recognizes the girl face the same one who robbed the store yesterday as she smiles at him and walks away he follows hers as the bells ring.
“Hey! Stop” archer says as the girl turns around and look at him she has a smirk on her face, Archer looks at her and says “aren’t you the girl who robbed the store yesterday what’s your name”, the girl looks at him and says “my name is Aaron and yes I am I would appreciate it if you kept your mouth shut”.
Archer watches her go to the vending machine and when no one is looking she starts taking the snacks out of the vending machine and stuffing them in her bag and Archer looks at her and says “ what are you doing that’s stealing”, Aaron looks at him and says I don’t care I know it’s stealing you should try it sometimes live a little what do you do besides go to school everyday and be bored nothing so if you really want to have some fun you should come with me I can see it in your eyes you know you want too”, Archer thinks about it at first and then he starts helping her as Security is coming around the corner and yells at them for them to stop as he grabs the cash too and they run out the school. If they jump in her car and leave as they’re laughing at the situation and Archer askes where they’re going but she doesn’t say anything she just smirks.
Aaron Takes Archer on top of a mountain to watch the sunset and have some fun as she gets out the car and grabs a bat and gives it to him and says “You want to have some fun this is how you do it” Aaron hits the car with the bats a couple of times and tells him she feels alive as she does it and then gives him the bat so he could do the same thing, Archer hesitates of the idea but he feels himself doing it anyway as he smashes the car feeling alive too. Archer puts the back down and Just Smiles as he gives her a hug. Feeling good as he looks at her and says “Do you think I could spend more time with you” Aaron looks at him and says “ sure I could use the company just to let you know I do more than just this”.
They get back in the car and drive him home and when he gets in the house he sees his dad coming from his mother’s room with her medicine and Archer gets in front of him and says “hey! what are you doing with her medicine let me guess you’re going to switch her medicine out so she could continue to stay in her room and smoke you know I might have lost my parents but these kids need their mom” Archer dad looks at him and says “son you need a mom too and I’m always here for you I just need a little bit money and don’t worry the pills that I gave her will fit right in she’ll feel fine” Archer looks at his dad angrily and says “no I lost my parents a long time ago when she met you I’ve been raising them on my own even though our mother is in the house she just won’t come out of her room because of you”, Archer and his dad goes back and forth until his siblings wake up and he instantly stops and kicks his dad out of the house and rushes over to his siblings and pick them up to take them back to bed telling them that everything will be fine. Archer stays up late at night thinking about everything that’s happened and stares up to the ceiling as he falls asleep.
The next day Archer wakes up smelling breakfast as he gets up and get dressed, goes to the kitchen and sees Aaron feeding his siblings as they’re sitting on the couch watching TV and he looks at her wondering how she got in and where she gets the food from. Archer goes into the kitchen and looks in the pantry and the refrigerator and sees a bunch of food that could last them for months and then looks at Aaron gratefully as she’s talking to his siblings and he goes over to her and pulls her a little bit and says “What are you doing here in how did you get the money for all of that food” Aaron looks at him and says don’t worry about it I heard about your struggles at home and decided to pick up a few groceries for you and your friends since I got money from you know the other day”. Archer Smiles at her and they watch movies with his siblings and take them out for a fun day at the carnival.
When they get back their mom is standing at the door worried as she goes inside the house smoking another cigarette they go inside the house and Archer tells Aaron that maybe she should go and doesn’t want their mom to find out who he’s been hanging out with as she drives off. Archer’s mom goes off on him for not answering his phone calls and taking them without saying anything and they have a emotional fight as their dad walks in and says he’s going to take the kids so they could talk and Archer refuse to let them go he says “ you’re not taking them anywhere they’re not going anywhere near the stuff that you do you’re not going to leave them in a car like you did last time while you were out partying!” Archer’s dad doesn’t listen to him and he takes them to the car as Archer follows and so does his mom as he’s hitting the window to get them out of the car as they drive away and he is furious as he goes back into the house slamming the door not wanting to say nothing to his mother.
he’s furious with his parents as he goes into the kitchen and sees his siblings eating while watching TV and his mother looks good but not healthy as she’s still smoking but cooking for them and he feels a little weirded out since this is the first time she’s been out of her room unless she had to go to work at night. Archer’s mom looks at him and says “ honey I am sorry for yesterday I was just looking out for you guys I know I haven’t been there but I will try to get better for you guys even if it means cutting your dad off I know how attached I’ve gotten and let him control this family while he go out” Archer looks at his mom and says“ I get that it’s been a lot but you’ve left me all alone raising my own siblings as a 17 year old how do you think that makes me feel having to take care of them trying to put a food on the table while you go out at night pretending like you’re going to work but we know that you’re just going out with him and don’t even try to pretend like you don’t know what I mean you change into your work clothes before you get home” Archer doesn’t let his mom says anything else as he just grabs his plate and goes to sit down with his siblings still mad.
Archer goes out as he’s riding his bike playing music in his headphones thinking about everything that’s happened and everything he’s helped Aaron do but he feels alive with her so he sticks with her for the next couple of days doing dangerous stunts breaking into houses for money stealing from stores almost getting caught but don’t as they just laugh at it all. everyday Archer had a fight with his dad about his siblings and him not being there for them until him and his mom get into a fight and he was done with his father as he goes to find Aaron but she’s nowhere to be found and he just Waits on a side of the road as he watches her car pulls up.
Aaron looks at him and says “ I heard you were looking for me hop in” she opens the door and he gets in the car she takes him to her place as they get there in the house is big Aaron tells Archer how her parents were never around and now she adopted and as they walk inside she introduced Archer to her two twin brothers miles and Chris, they go to her room to talk as Archer tells him about his crazy family and how he wishes he could Escape from the life he’s living but it doesn’t seem like he could as He Flops on her bed.
Aaron looks at Archer and says “you know we could always get paid back I mean think of everything he’s ever done to your family he turned your mom into the worst parent ever addicted to cigarettes and drinking find one minute and not the next taking her medication and swapping it out for fake so he could get money I say he deserves a lot” Archer thinks about it for a second and says “you know what you’re right I want revenge But what shall we do” Aaron just smirks at him and says “I have an idea grab that ski mask and get in the car”.
Aaron drives archer to his dad house and doesn’t question how she got his address or number to track the time he will be home Aaron looks at archer and says “you want revenge that’s what we’re gonna do we will go in there and take everything valuable to him and your mom’s median if hasn’t already sold it or something and if someone comes we have this bat to protect us” archer looks at her like she crazy and he’s even more crazy for thinking about doing it and then he starts thinking about all the times his dad put his mom down, took his siblings without anyone knowing or almost getting them sent back to a group home and got even more mad and looked at aaron and say “grab the bat i’m in, let’s go before my dad and his crew gets back” Archer gets out the car ready to make his dad pay as aaron smirks and goes in the house breaking everything leaving it trashed as she laughs.
Archer goes in and does the same thing as he goes into his dad room taking all of his money and breaks the pictures he have of him and his family then he sees I picture of him and his dad smiling but remembers that’s the dad his dad left and said he was gonna be back but came back just to break his mother’s heart and leave again.
Archer hears someone coming into the house and immediately tells Aaron to hide as he hides behind the door with the bat in his hands knowing his dad is probably here. Archer’s dad moves slowly in the house as he goes into the bedroom and sees his stuff everywhere and the money gone and looks around the room about to turn his head to archer behind the room until Archer swings the bat and hits his dad in the face as they break out into a fight.
Aaron comes from the livingroom and hits archers dad with her bat making him it his head on the table as he’s bleeding and archer looks at him as he’s not moving and blacks out as they look out the window and sees his dad crew is back, Aaron tell archer that they need to go but he’s completely out of it just looking at his dad.
Aaron pushes archer and he snaps out of it as they run out the back door and his dad crew walks in and sees them but not his face and was gonna go after them until they saw archers dad on the floor and ran to him as he’s not responding.
Archer and aaron are still running leaving the car and stop at someone house, Archer looks terrified as he looks at aaron and replaying what she did in his head and aaron just looks at him and says “ look im sorry im sure he’ll be fine maybe that was a terrible idea” archer says “you hurt my dad what if he’s dead! We could go to jail of course it was a terrible idea that you had and I was stupid enough to do it with you.
I let you get in my head like you always do! This isn’t me, I’m not you, stay away from me, I’m done!” Aaron stops Archer from walking away and says “ you are right about one thing this is not you but you are like me more than you’d like to believe, you started this when you decided to hang out with me and you hate your dad so why do you even care!”.
Archer pushes her off of him and says “because he might be a bad person but he’s still my dad!” Aaron looks up at him “you say that now after what we just did because you feel bad but when we were doing all that stuff you felt alive that’s why you came with me and stopped caring about other people and school, you hate your life so why you wanna start caring now?, it’s the people we love that will destroy us you should know that more than anyone”Aaron walks away and archer cries knowing what she said might be true as he hold his head and scream feeling like he’s going crazy kicking everything in front of him and start walking into the woods hitting trees hurting his hand. Acher his down and just cry until it starts raining and don’t go home until the next day.
Archer gets home and his mom gets up from the couch and says “where have you been I’ve been looking for you for hours, you farther in the hospital someone broke into his house” Archer looks at his mom feeling guilty knowing if he says anything he could get in serious trouble, archer hugs his mom tight wishing what he did was just a bad dream that he can’t seem to wake up from. Archer says sorry to his mom and she looks confused and says “what are you talking about? what did you do?” Archer just looks at her and says nothing. He gets up and goes to his room thinking about everything Aaron said.
The next few day’s Archer ignores Aaron for the next couple of days trying to clear his mind and get right back into school knowing is going to be hard since you spend so much time Being with her and doing the most dangerous things ever he wants to be a good kid again but doesn’t know how as he still can’t work nothing out with his counselor since she gave him his final strike and he starts begging for her to help.
Archer looks at his counselor and says “Look I know my head hasn’t been in it but I desperately need this I want to graduate I want to get out of here I know I haven’t been doing what I was supposed to do and I kind of got caught up with this person who is definitely a bad influence but I’m trying to stay away from them and get back to what I need to be doing even if that means starting over or doing summer school I have to pass “Archers counselor looks at him and says “ look I get that you wanna do right but i don’t if that possible after everything that’s happened I heard they found out that it was you that broke into the vending machines and stole the snacks and money” Archer says “I get that but it wasn’t just me I wasn’t alone the new girl Aaron was with me it was her plan anyway I just helped her out and I do accept my punishment that the principal gave me but that doesn’t Define what I’m trying to do now”.
The counselor looks at Archer confused what he’s talking about when he mentions a new girl and she says “ Archer what are you talking about a new girl named Aaron we haven’t had a new girl in a year or any new student” as Archer hears those words he looks completely confused on what’s going on as he starts thinking about everything happened hangs out with her in front of people and he thinks that he’s going crazy but tries to push it down as he goes out to find Aaron running out of school. Archer goes to all of Aaron’s favorite spots which are also his favorite spots as he is looking he starts thinking more about what’s going on and maybe there’s a reason why she does bad things and she doesn’t show up at school but she shows up when he needs her. Archer takes a bike and he rides it all the way up a mountain as he sees the car but he doesn’t see her and then he goes to her house and it says for sale and the furniture is not there the house is completely empty as he looks around and still doesn’t see anyone until a car pulls up and he sees Aaron and she looks at him kind of sad but also concerned that she tells him to hop in.
Aaron takes Archer for a ride as she starts driving and she says “we need to talk” and Archer looks at her and says yes we do so pull the car over somewhere private. Aaron looks at Archer and says “ I know you might be confused about everything that’s going on but you need to snap out of it when I meant that we are more alike than you think I mean that I am the person you wanted to be in your head all of those things you’ve done by yourself I’m just your imagination, I’m here whenever you need me I am the bad version of you” Archer looks at her completely stunned by what she just said and says” that’s not true you’re lying there’s no way you are in my head there’s no way I made you up just to feel alive just to feel good about myself and need a friend if that’s the case you lied to me if you’re in my head why did you let me do all those bad things with you why didn’t you try to stop me why didn’t you tell me that I was ruining my life ruining my family by doing all of those things with you you let me rob a store you let me steal from my own School you let me hurt my own dad her other people stop talking to my friends because of you!”.
Aaron looks kind of sad as she looks at him and says “I’ve always been the bad version of you the version that you tried to prevent from coming out basically you showing your true colors and I didn’t lie to you I just didn’t tell you the whole truth the best lies are rooted in the truth after all you just didn’t catch them” Archer looks completely stunned as Aaron waves at him as she disappears and he is now in the driver’s seat as he’s looking around completely Shook and feel like he’s going to have a panic attack as he looks around and gets out the car and he sees the house that he imagined that she lived in and the door is broken into as he starts thinking that he broke into the house to imagine everything and he gets on his bike and starts writing to the gas station.
the owner looks completely scared as he sees him and says nothing he just closes the shop and leave and Archer looks up into the sky and it comes back to him that he was the one who robbed the store all by himself and he was talking to himself when he took money and snacks out of the Venom machine and ran it was just him no one else he feels alone more than ever and hurt by everything that he’s done. Archer gets scared as he drives to his dad house to not see anyone there as he grabs the key by the mats and opens the door and remember everything that he’s done and just falls to the ground and cry he throws a picture of him and his dad when he was little feeling even more hurt knowing that he’s done something so Unforgivable and feel like he deserves to be punished.
Archer never thought he could do something so terrible he thought he could fix himself as a hero while the person that is imaginary in his head doing all the horrible things that he wished she could have done just to find out that he has done it he didn’t want to believe it he went home thinking that it was going to be rainbows and sunshine and everything would be okay in his mother would help him.
Archer gets home and sees his mother packing up all of her stuff to move out she looks at him and she says “I know everything that you’ve done your principal called me and said You talked about a girl named Aaron who is not real your siblings even told me that you’re the one who bought all this stuff the owner of the gas station across the street told me that you stole money from him you robbed him as you put on a ski mask right in front of him you’re lucky he didn’t report you I didn’t raise you to be this kid”. Archer looks scared and doesn’t want his family to leave him as his mom goes into the room and tries to calm down and he’s just at the same spot that he’s been in for the past 2 hours as she comes out of the room and looks at him and says sit down we need to talk.
Archer mom look at him and says “you’ve done Unforgettable things but you are still my son and I will be here for you no matter what even if it means dealing whatever that you’re going through I know I haven’t been there for you like I should have but I am going to start doing that now now that your dad is out of the way I could focus on you and your siblings even if that means working extra time to support you guys I want you to graduate from high school I want them to grow up with a good mother and for them to know their big brother as someone who’s done up terrific things not horrible things”.
Archer looks at his mom as tears come out of his eyes and he just doesn’t know what to say and she starts talking again that she can see the pain in his eyes and starts thinking about everything that’s happened and says some words that really hits him hard “ Watch your thoughts for they will become your words watch your words or they will become your shape of actions watch your actions or they will create your future”. you told me that before you left you made me want to change for the better for you guys so now I’m going to help you” Archer looks at his mother as tears are still coming out of his eyes as she wipes them away and she says “we love you and when you’re ready we’ll get you help”. From that day moving forward Archer’s mother been doing better his siblings have been having the full support of having an Archer still wonders if his dad will ever come back or get out of the hospital safe and sound and if he has will he still be to talk to Archer and maybe forgive him Archer still has problems with his imagination and can’t tell reality from imaginary. Archer’s counselor is helping him get his work done and she thinks he has a real chance of graduating on time with his class if he does his summer school program on time and focuses and gets all of his work done.
The moral of the story is if you’re going through stuff or having a tough time at home always talk to someone even if it’s your friend or your counselor there’s always going to be people there to help you go through stuff if you let them. This story is based off of an actual disease that lots of people have and don’t know they have it until they can’t tell what’s real and what’s fake and their imaginary gets the best of them this diagnosis is by stress and determined to get away from anything that’s bothering them or making them angry as possible this Disease is called delusional disorder.
There’s two types there’s one where people believe that people are out to harm them and hurt them in any other way and another one where someone doesn’t know reality from imaginary and let their imagination get the best of them to believe that the things they’re doing are someone else doing it for them so they don’t feel guilty some people call it someone being a psycho but there’s a different term for it some people only call it that because of how they look when it’s much To handle for them.
Everyone should remember that what you do affects your life and that’s what this story is about, “Watch your thoughts for they will become your words watch your words or they will become your shape of actions watch your actions or they will create your future.”
