Mr. Miles is an engineering teacher at Tuscarora High School. OnShape is a program where you can start a new project and follow steps to design a model that has been assigned. So you can design models and 3D print them out. 3D prints are three-dimensional prototypes, you create the end product by directly building them using computer aided design (CAD) or software-created 3D design diagrams, figures and patterns. Miles said he has worked with 3D printers since college.
I started off asking him basic questions about his class. There was one question about his goals, besides his job, and that was “When did you start getting the interest in wanting to teach engineering?”
To this he responded that he wants to develop a new product of his own idea. During his lessons in the beginning of class, he gives warm ups and enjoys when students engage in the warm ups, giving fun answers. He says a problem he faces this year is the new immigration with learning OnShape. If you are wondering about any clubs that go with this, Miles is a part of the robotics club but he isn’t currently running one right now.
