Teachers’ attention to students affects students. I believe that many students go through many things growing up, with either puberty, family issues, sports, mental health, lack of motivation, friends, and teachers. Many people may not think teachers affect students’ lives but they really do! Since students are with their students for at least 7 hours of a day, a bad teacher can really negatively affect children. The most important issue of Generation Z is teachers’ attention to students because they can greatly impact their lives, they can support academics, it can cause students to become depressed when they’re neglected.
Teachers’ positive attention to their students can greatly impact their lives. Text from a source stated “Teachers can have an incredibly positive impact when they create a supportive environment in which students feel safe to talk about their emotional well-being.” This text shows that when students are around a good environment or workplace where they feel supported or give off a positive feeling, where students can talk and communicate better with their teachers or maybe even peers.
When teachers provide emotional support they can support teens’ academics.. During middle school to high school teen students normally go through a lot of stress whether it’s with school, home, friends, or even peers. When you have extra support from teachers it gives a relief to students like a weight off their shoulders. With teachers’ emotional support it can help students’ mental health and even help academic lives! In an article it stated “Providing emotional support is one factor through which teachers can impact students well-being and academic engagement”
Lot of teachers normally just care about teaching their students and don’t really care about children’s mental health. With teachers their main priority is to teach and make sure students are safe. So usually teachers don’t look into students’ well-being or mental health. But little do teachers know if students have an adult they can talk to, it can help a lot! In an article the text stated “Ideally, the work of identifying and supporting students with a range of social and emotional needs, including mental health concerns, would not fall on educators, whose primary role is to educate children.” Only focusing on education can push kids into a depression.
Of course this doesn’t mean teachers should let their students slack off, teachers should still discipline but also understand children’s life outside of school, and build a connection with their students because you never know if a teacher to talk to is what they need in their life. At the end of the day when children are around a good environment or workplace they do better. And being there for students can give them a positive impact on their mental and academic lives. This issue matters because students’ mental health is very important and it can prevent children from becoming depressed.
