Who would’ve thought the next popular film would be a modern romantic comedy? Will Gluck’s “Anyone But You” easily compares to some of the best we have seen.
Following the simple but addicting outline of your most loved romantic films, Bea played by Sydeny Sweeney and Ben played by Glen Powell were set to be together. After a falling out, the two go from enemies to having to stay in the same household for a doomed wedding. The two are forced to spend time with each other as they pretend to date when they should have been acknowledging feelings they had for each other the whole time. “We’re getting pretty good at faking it,” Ben tells Bea.
Will Gluck had the theater, including myself, dancing, laughing and yearning throughout the whole movie. Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell play the perfect ‘enemies to lovers’ couple as the two have chemistry that has been lacking from this genre of films. From the first scene of bathroom trauma for Bea and Ben’s fear of heights, nothing more could have been asked for a perfect film. Besides maybe a grilled cheese for the audience.
So, if you are wondering if you should believe all the attention that is being brought to the newest romantic comedy, the answer is most definitely. What could be better than a love story?
