On Sept. 25, in Baltimore, CEO Pava LaPere was found dead in her apartment.
The Baltimore City Police was first contacted about a missing person and then later received a second call, leading them to LaPere’s apartment. Upon investigating the body, signs indicate that she was killed by blunt-force trauma.
Police suspect that Jason Bilingsley is responsible for the death of LaPere. As of now there is no known motive for the murder and he has yet to be arrested. The police put out a warrant for Billingsley and are searching for him. He is wanted for first degree murder, assault, reckless endangerment and other charges that have not been publicly listed.
This is not even Bilingsley’s first run in with the law. In fact he has been charged a number of times. In 2009 he was charged with first-degree assault and in 2011 he was charged with second-degree. Bilingsley was also previously sentenced to 30 years in prison, with 16 years of his sentence getting suspended after he pleaded guilty to a first-degree sex offense in 2015.
Police officers warn and urge pedestrians to be careful of Billingsley as he has yet to be arrested and is believed to be armed. “He will do anything he can to cause harm,” Commissioner Richard Worley noted during a press conference.
It is unknown why LaPere was killed, but it is known that she was the CEO of EcoMap. EcoMap is a company that focuses on making data maps according to provide easy access to information about what is happening in the ecosystems around us.
Due to LaPere’s significance to the company, on Tuesday the company released a statement regarding her death.
“With profound sadness and shock, EcoMap announces the tragic and untimely passing of our beloved Founder and CEO, Pava LaPere. The circumstances surrounding Pava’s death are deeply distressing, and our deepest condolences are with her family, friends and loved ones during this incredibly devastating time.”
The company sends out their condolences to her loved ones and plans to honor her death and memory in the upcoming days.
