Metro Boomin delivers yet again

Metro Boomin(producer) has finally returned to give us the second installment of his hero themed album trilogy.

The album is called “HEROES & VILLAINS” and dropped on December 2, 2022. Like the first album “ NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES” that was dropped in 2018,  it contains a star studded lineup of features to go along with Metro’s fantastic beat selection. It should be noted that on this new album we see some familiar faces from the previous album inlcuding 21 Savage, Travis Scott, Gunna, and Young Thug; all of which provide something different to the album in their own way.

Don Toliver, another big name on this album, came through again and again with his mind blowing vocals that in a way put you in a musical trance on tracks like “Too Many Nights” and “Around Me.”

Despite this 15 track album being 48 minutes long, Metro takes you on a trap music ride that you never want to get off from. In typical Metro fashion, he makes you actually pay attention to every second of the music due to his signature track transition into another track. It could have you thinking that you missed something but it was really just a flawless track transition on his part and you can see a great example of this on tracks 1 to 2 and tracks 8 to 9.

From the Morgan Freeman voice over appearance in multiple songs to even the iconic Homelander speech towards the end of the first track, Metro’s level of creativity really took another leap which is hard to believe if you already have heard his incredible discography. Not only did Metro deliver with the samples that he used and the references, but he went on to use the iconic 2004 song “ I Don’t Wanna Know” by Mario as a reference on track 10 called “Creepin.”

All in all Metro delivered one of the best albums of the year across all genres not just rap and to me dropped the most enjoyable album to listen as far as beat selections go and production.
