Welcome Back Titans!

Welcome back Titans! It is a brand new year and there is so much to look forward to. This year will already be like no other but, as a community, we can make this year unforgettable. Students and teachers throughout the school have many different opinions and views about coming back to school as well as the many new rules and guidelines. Some feel excited to be back, while others feel uneasy about going to school in a pandemic. Students and teachers weighed in on the return of in-person schooling.

Mrs. Kremnitzer, the Literacy Specialist, commented on her thoughts about this upcoming school year. “This is a special year for me. I get to see my 8th-grade students graduate, but at the same time, I am concerned about their safety, as well as the safety of my children. It has been hard to balance being a teacher and a parent of young children.”

Luke Marunycz, a 10th grader at Tuscarora, shared his thoughts on the school year. “I am so glad to be in the school building for the first time. I missed my Freshman year and had to learn virtually. I find that an in-person environment is much easier to learn in. However, having to wear a mask all day is annoying, and it makes it virtually impossible to speak clearly.”

Faith Webster, a senior at Tuscarora, has mixed feelings about returning to the building. “I have some concern because of how quickly the virus has spread through the building, but at the same time, I am excited to see some of my friends that I haven’t seen since March of 2020. I hope we don’t have to go back to virtual learning, but I also don’t want to risk myself for covid.”

The excitement and concern for safety are a common theme among the students and faculty in the building. The enthusiasm was predictable since most students have not been inside the building since March of 2020. However, even if some may have anticipated a rapid increase in covid cases, most did not fully understand the level of concern until students stepped foot into the school and realized what would transpire every day. Nevertheless, the majority of students and staff are thrilled to see each other in person again finally.
