Alyssa Afari, a freshman, stood out as the Student of the Week at Tuscarora High School.  Ms. Neuland, a Spanish teacher, nominated Alyssa by saying, “Alyssa comes to class prepared to work, participates and brings a smile to class everyday.”  Alyssa believes her success is the result of the example her parents set for her and her work ethic.  Her hope is to use her drive to one day become a veterinarian. She currently gets some practice with her adorable English Springer Spaniel named Austin.  In addition to loving animals, Alyssa enjoys ballet, yoga, singing, song writing, and drawing outside of school. Her dream is to one day see Ghana, the country of her ancestry to experience the culture firsthand. Alyssa’s favorite book is A Dog’s Purpose and she enjoys movies from the 1980s.
