The Golden Mile Classic: 09-21-19

The Golden Mile Classic is a newer tradition in Frederick County athletics. In its 6th year, the Frederick County Classic is a soccer match between bitter rivals Frederick High And Tuscarora. The match is always played at Frederick High School even in years when THS would be hosting (the Titans give up home field advantage for this event). Admission is free because the  teams involved are focused more on showcasing soccer as a high school sport than generating revenue from ticket sales. Last year our varsity boys team was victorious for the first time in the history of this event (but certainly not the last). Make no mistake, however, this is not an exhibition match. The stakes for this game are pretty high considering how early it occurs in the season, with play-off seating, and the ability to win the conference championship all on the line in this match up. Last year over 1,000 fans came out to support the teams which is a larger number than both teams are accustomed to since fan attendance at soccer games isn’t the highest in this area.

The match begins Saturday at 5:30 p.m. when the JV teams play; the Varsity teams face off at 7:00 p.m.

If you’re tired of funnel cake at the Frederick Fair, and you’re looking for an awesome (and FREE) event, head on over to Frederick High to cheer on our boys soccer team at the 6th annual Golden Mile Classic!

Go Titans!!!
