This week’s Sports Spotlight is on the Tuscarora Field Hockey team. Their current record is 3-9 their wins have come from Hammond, Brunswick and Frederick High School. The captains of the team are Angie Fontino, Morgan Leecost, Haley Barth and Savannah Vance. Their coach is Julie Lunn who has been the head coach for many years.

Savannah Vance is currently a pivotal player of the team. She was the Frederick News-Post “player of the week” last week. This is not her first time making headlines in the News-Post where she had an article written about her change from playing defense to gaining an offensive role where she thrived.

Their season has been a little bit different as their usual home field is out of commission. The Titans have been playing their home games out of the Chuck Foreman field at Ballenger Creek Park less than a mile away from the school.

The Titans are currently preparing for the beginning of their playoffs. They will likely be facing an opponent with a much better record so they will likely be challenged but hopefully they will be ready to overcome the challenge and make a nice playoff run. Go Titans!
