Weekly Health Tip: Getting Fit at Home

Natalie Tucker, Writer

Exercising is something that can feel like a drag, but it’s really good for your health. A lot of people think of exercising as going to the gym and lifting, running laps on a track, and time-consuming, but it doesn’t have to be. There are so many exercises you can do in your own home without any equipment or going out of your way to do them, and it saves you money!

If you think the only way to exercise or workout is by going to a gym and lifting weights, you’re wrong because there is so much you can do without weights. If you want to work out your core, you can do crunches, sit ups, 6 inches, bicycle kicks, bicycle kicks, flutter kicks/scissor kicks, planks or leg throw downs. If you want to work out your arms you can do different types of push ups such as, military push ups, triangle hand push ups, single leg push ups, modified push ups, diamond hand push ups, or dips (you can put your hand on an ottoman, chair, or table). If you want to work out your lower body, you can do calf raises (stand on a lower stair), squats, wall sits, jump roping, lunges, or burpees. All of these exercises require no weights so they’re very simple and you don’t run the risk of hurting yourself by dropping weights or doing something in the incorrect form and really injuring yourself. If you’re new to working out or just don’t know what any of these are, there are so many tutorials on YouTube. Here are some, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7K6yFOjsJIhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rzhohF5w3chttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrV4vCotio0.

If you don’t work out because you think you have to make time for it, you’re wrong again. You can fit the exercises in without going out of your way to do them or changing your daily routine. For example, if you watch T.V. or Netflix, you could do a small workout during commercials or during the theme song. Another thing you could do is, while waiting for something in the microwave you could do one or multiple exercises.
