Fortnite craze

Fortnite is the most recent console and PC game to change the online gaming world. Ease of access, and widespread popularity, has made this game a ‘must-play’ for a lot of students at THS. The game can be played on PC, Xbox one, Ps4 and mobile. The gameplay itself is simple and straightforward in that you can either drop in the map by yourself and play other solos, drop in with a partner (friend) and play other duos and even a squad of four characters and play other squads. Players rank their player up and complete challenges to get skins for their player as a decorative piece to portray their skill in the game.

The thrill and the obsession of the game comes from the uniqueness of being able to work together while building, fighting, and strategizing throughout the game to try to be the last squad standing. The game comes with many frustrations also because being one of the last players left and not winning is no uncommon. Many professional Fortnite players have taken over the game by providing livestreams and clips of their gameplay. Live streamer “Ninja” is rumored to make $500,000 a month off the game through sponsorships and the livestreaming website twitch.

Myself, I find the game to be enjoyable. The game allows me to play with people I don’t see that often or just people from school. With many ways to play Fortnite the most competitive is PC. Speaking with Fortnite player Armond Mandiola (Tuscarora Senior) he plays throughout the week while constantly streaming to promote his play through the game. I would recommend this game to all Tuscarora students who have some free time and are looking for an easy and fun get away from the homework and studying just for an hour or two.
