Last Thursday, February 8th, Tuscarora girls indoor track and field became 3A West Region champs. This is the first time that girls indoor track has won regionals in school history. The teams won with 85 overall points with many girls on the team placing in their events. Ryanna Kimbembe, who placed in several events, said that it “feels awesome” to have made school history. She describes her team as “one big family” that gets along really well and always “cheers each other on”. Natalie Markoff, who placed well in all of her events also, said that the team “gets along great” and they “have a lot of fun but know when to put in work and get stuff done”. Markoff also said that the team has “a lot of depth and is very well rounded from distance to sprints to field events” which helped them nab the regional title. The team feels optimistic for states and Kimbembe feels that they “definitely have a chance at placing in the relays”. The girls go to states on Tuesday, February 20th, so be sure to with your fellow Titans good luck!
