Titan Reading Buddies!
November 3, 2017
Here at Tuscarora we have a program called Titan Reading Buddies. The program is in its second year and the purpose of the program is to build our sense of community through relationships. Basically the program involves THS students traveling to either Ballenger Creek Elementary or Tuscarora Elementary once per month to read stories to the elementary school students (our future Titans).
Our first Reading Buddies ‘tour’ happened today and here’s what some of the participants had to say about the experience:
“It was fun, I read a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles book to kindergartners, and the audience was very cute and they all stared at me; but I think they liked the story and I definitely enjoyed doing it.” – Will Enten
“It was a very enjoyable experience being in the fourth grade class. They actually read to me from their chapter books and they were really proud of themselves.” Katie Johnson
Are you interested in being a part of the Titan Reading Buddies? Well, so long as you’re eligible anybody can participate. You will need to stop by B-209 and get a permission slip for the bus ride and all reading buddies must attend one mandatory training session.

This program is fantastic for the high school and elementary students. It is a win-win.
