Socktober!!

Chelsea Donovan, Writer

Tuscarora’s Student Government has been running a sock drive the last week and a half of October. Socks are the most needed, but least donated item of clothing. The SGA decided to collect socks and make it a first block competition. The first block that collects the most socks will win a donut party for their class.

The school goal is to collect 150 pairs of socks to donate to the Frederick Rescue Mission at the end of October. The SGA is hoping to do clothing drives and fundraisers like these more frequently during the year to give back to the community around us. The ultimate goal is for Tuscarora High School to build up to the community we live in, giving back to the homeless and helping out with the less fortunate.

Teachers were asked to collect socks in their first block class and also to wear crazy socks so they can promote socktober. Students – feel free to wear crazy socks as well and when people ask about your socks, tell them you are promoting socktober. Teachers will be collecting socks from October 23rd, 2017-October 31st, 2017. Bring in as many NEW pairs of socks to your first block class if you want to win the donut party!
