It’s hard to be a Caps fan…

Its+hard+to+be+a+Caps+fan...

Another stellar season for the Capitals ends with another stinging exit in the second round. The Washington Capitals fell 2-0 to the Pittsburgh Penguins last night marking yet another exercise in frustration for a team that habitually under-performs in the playoffs. This off-season will feature the usual head scratching and soul searching for the team and another round of ‘maybe next year’ statements from the loyal fans. We could console ourselves with the fact that the Capitals had a great regular season, or the fact that they once again ran up against a goalie who decided to act like a brick wall instead of a human being, or the fact that the team still boasts an impressive roster of undeniably talented Hockey players. We could do all that but maybe, just maybe, we are tired of doing that.

Fun Fact: The Washington Capitals have not made it past the second round of the playoffs since the 97/98 season.

The Capitals faithful will be back next season, we’ll be rocking the red, and we’ll be cheering on our team. But, the owners and players will have to forgive us if we don’t get too terribly excited about whatever successes we experience during the regular season. Because until this team finds a way to overcome the self-imposed second round failure, we reserve the right to be skeptical. Regardless of  what the owners or players say and regardless of any off season trades or drafts, one fact remains:

It’s hard to be a Caps fan.
