Marvel vs. DC: Who’s Better?
February 9, 2017
Marvel and DC Comics have been the two biggest comic book industries since the rise of comics in the 1940s, the Golden Age of comics. Even though there is other competition, such as Valiant comics, the main rivalry in the comic book world is by far between Marvel and DC. The debate about which one is really the best, which one is the real King in comics? Stan Lee and Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson are the original creators behind these universes that resulted in characters that are more universally well-known than some politicians. But whose characters and whose universe is ultimately better?
People claim DC heroes are too overpowered to be relatable while Marvel has a lot more flaws in their characters that make them so much easier to relate to. The best, and most well-known, example of this would be Superman whose only real weakness is kryptonite. Yet, people can also claim that Marvel has its share of overpowered heroes such as Sentry who has equal or even more power than Superman. On the other hand, some claim Marvel doesn’t have as good of writers that DC does, apart from Stan Lee, due to their more intricate grand scale story telling rather than more personal and continuous stories such as the long legacy of Batman. Though depending on which you prefer, you may like the intricate Avengers or X-Men universe than the Batman one.
In other media; however, sides are a lot more divided. The video game industry is definitely in DC’s favor as they’ve poured a lot more into numerous games such as the Batman: Arkham series. Yet Marvel is mainly known for their recent Lego games that while fun, isn’t nearly as popular as DC games. DC also manages to have amazing movies, such as the Dark Knight, but most don’t live up to Marvels Cinematic Universe which is a lot more successful and more highly rated on average. Although, both seem to excel in televised series all while being different in their execution.
The battle between which universe is better and who has the better characters has started decades ago and is still a lively debate to this day. And with the rise of the comic book culture in society, it will most likely continue to be debated with both sides happily defending their stance. So, which comic books or comic universes do you like better? Who has the better characters? Heroes and villains? Marvel or DC? Take our poll below to pick the side you think is best:

IN my opinion, which is right, Marvel is better than DC. Marvel has better movies, and have more character weaknesses than DC. It’s less entertaining to watch a Superman film because you know he’ll win without breaking a sweat, whereas in an Iron Man film, he comes very close to dying several times. Marvel has much better movies, and the villain’s won before, and the heroes have suffered losses, unlike in DC, where Superman comes in and kicks the villains butt in 2 seconds. Marvel is far better than DC

I honestly love both but when they think of dc vs marvel they never bring it in to consideration that marvel has actual gods that don’t get talked about a lot ect. the one above all, and much more. All tho dc has the presence, flash, lucifer and much more. You can’t really predict who would win it all depends on in whos universe they fight in because of plot amour. But until they do a colab with ALL the characters theres no real way of knowing.
Have a good day

From my prespective, i like Marvel more than DC. Although i actually love both, but marvel just tops it for me. I mostly love marvel because of the incredible imaginations that they have. Marvel is suitable for all ages, even for kids. Meanwhile DC is suitable for teens or grownups the most because of its violence. And yes, marvel characters have great sense of humor. They always made me laugh. And the Marvel theme are Love each other, never give up. And they never lose hope. From my prespective, DC are more darker type, and too much blood, and violence kinda type. And they like to say so many bad words. And for me,thats really not suitable for kids. But overral i like both

I think that Marvel is much better, solely because of how relatable the characters are. Watching, say, a Superman movie, you could be intimidated by his sheer inability to be defeated. Except, of course, if you have the extremely rare stone from a planet across the galaxy that blew up decades ago. On the other hand, it is much more entertaining to watch an Iron Man movie, for example, where you can conceive the possibility that the villains might actually win. This actually happens in Infinity War, and it just adds so much more suspense. This is just not present in DC movies, which are much more predictable. Also, Marvel characters have a sense of humor, and it’s not all duty and valor.
