Chatty Kathy: Week of 01-30-2017

Chatty Kathy, Writer

The Titan Times is proud to bring our readers a brand new weekly feature. Through our Twitter feed and the curious cat extension, we are now taking anonymous questions for us to feature each week. Have a problem? Need some advice? Just want to vent a little? Send us your questions and we’ll do our best to provide sound advice. You can find us on Twitter at:

So, enough of the introductions, here are our questions for this week:

I think my boyfriend is talking to another girl, what should I do?

What is it that makes you think this? Have you heard from your friends directly that he is talking to someone else or have you noticed changes in his behavior? The first thing for you to figure out is why you feel this way. The worst thing you could do is be wrong about this and confront your boyfriend. On the other hand if you have proof that this is going on, I would suggest you confront your boyfriend to figure out where you both stand as a couple.

My job is affecting my schoolwork, how can I balance them?

I suggest that you try to get a fixed schedule for work, and plan to do your school work on days you know that you will not have work. Doing large assignments a couple days before they are due makes it easier to get your work done while remaining as organized and stress free as possible. If you can’t get a fixed schedule a daily organizer will be your best friend in trying to keep on top of things. And if neither of those work, you may need to consider whether the money you make at your job is worth sacrificing your grades for high school and your options after graduation.

I have third lunch and I’m starving by the time I get to eat, what can I do to to hold me over until lunchtime?

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and for good reason. You should try to eat a good breakfast everyday. But, even if you do, sometimes that’s just not enough to keep your hunger under control until third lunch (trust me, I’ve had third lunch and I know your struggle). So, knowing you won’t eat until last, my advice is to bring some easy snacks to eat in between class changes, breakfast bars, or even a piece of fruit can often help to keep your mind off your stomach and on your learning.

I keep coming late to school, what can I do in the morning to wake up and stay motivated?

I suggest going to bed at a reasonable time and preparing for your day the night before by packing your lunch, laying out your clothes, and having everything you will need for your day ready to go and easy to access. Also, set a few alarms to wake yourself up in the morning. I find it best to have 2-3 alarms to wake myself up in the morning. The first couple of alarms will let you know that it is time to wake up and make it easier to get out of bed when your final alarm goes off.

So that’s our column for the week. Tell us what you think either in the comments below or through our twitter feed.

See ya next week Titans
