Backs against the wall: Caps drop 3rd straight against Pens

Backs against the wall: Caps drop 3rd straight against Pens

Facing down a depleted Pittsburgh team the Caps seemed poised to even the series on Wednesday night. The Caps played with intensity and grit throughout the night. As the buzzer sounded at the end of the third period both teams were tied at 2 and were headed to overtime where the Penguins typically struggle. However, a costly defensive mistake just over two minutes into overtime allowed the Pens to score the sudden death goal to go up 3 games to 1 over the Capitals. The Caps are now facing elimination and must win three in a row to advance to the next round. However, all is not lost as this is the same Pittsburgh team that allowed a 3-1 lead over the New York Rangers slip away just two seasons ago. The series returns to D.C. on Saturday where the Caps will face the first elimination challenge. Keep rockin’ the red all you Caps fans out there and never give up! Go Caps!
