Draft Day 2016

Eric Sullivan, Writer

The 2016 NFL Draft is just 10 days away, and for the second straight year the draft will be held in Chicago (Chi Town) where there will be many events leading up to the number one pick. As of last Thursday it was the Titans that were holding the #1 pick for this years draft, however that changed when the LA. Rams made a blockbuster trade for the Titans #1 pick. This came at the cost of multiple future draft picks including the Rams 2017 first rounder. This trade changes a lot when it comes to teams draft boards and analysts mock drafts, now with the rams being #1 and the Titans being #15, it is more apparent that a Quarterback could be taken #1 overall to LA. Prospects Carson Wentz and Jarred Goff lead the way for a deep quarterback class that could see 3 or 4 taken in the first round.

As for the rest of league, this years draft is just as important as any other. After the Rams picking first the Browns, Chargers, Cowboys, and Jaguars round out the top 5 with the ravens following at 6. It is apparent that Goff and Wentz will go #1 and #2 to L.A and Cleveland but after that it seems to be a bit uncertain of where teams will be looking. At #3 it is about as unclear as it gets with the Chargers. They need help all over the roster and it starts with the offensive line. Laremy Tunsil is most likely the top option along the O-line, they could also look to grab a receiver like Laquon Treadwell out of Ole Miss.

Draft day is a huge day for many of the top prospects around the college football world. And come April 28th these prospects will be drafted into their dream job as professional football players. The draft will hopefully be beneficial to all 32 teams, even the Patriots who were forced to forfeit their first round pick due to allegations resulting from the 2014 AFC championship game “Deflate Gate”. Until the end of the month their will be many guesses leading up t0 the draft but all we can do at this point is sit back and wait.
