Nova wins it all

After a wild and surprising March Madness, Villanova comes out as the champion of the 64 team annual NCAA tournament. Being that Nova was a 2 seed, it wasn’t all that surprising that they were able to run the table and win it all for just the second time in team history. When it came to picking a bracket and a final four, there were many reasons to choose Villanova, however there were also many reasons to pick them to lose in the first round. Villanova is a smaller school in Philadelphia and doesn’t even have a division 1 football team. The thought of them being crowned the NCAA champions was almost an after thought considering that they don’t have any projected future NBA players.

The win against #1 UNC came with a shot that almost everyone dreams of at some point in their life. With only about 10 seconds left UNC was able to tie the game with a very improbable shot that would have most likely sent the game to overtime…. but that was not the case. With just 4 seconds left with game tied at 74, Nova inbounded the ball and passed it to #2 Kris Jenkins who from 2 feet behind the 3-point line was able to drain the game winning buzzer beater that won the National championship for Villanova.

The 2016 March Madness tournament came with many upsets and surprising play from players that weren’t expected to make a splash. To this date there have not been any tournaments with so many surprises and upsets. Villanova winning it all is a perfect example because of how only a small percentage picked them to even make the championship. Until next March, Villanova is on top of the college basketball world.
