Set within the remote reaches of outer space you and your team are thrown into an unforgettable fight for survival in hit indie video game “Deep Rock Galactic.”
“Deep Rock Galactic” is a cooperative first-person shooter video game developed by Ghost Ship Games and released on May 13, 2020. In the game you and others team up as a squad of dwarves working for Deep Rock Galactic, an intergalactic mining corporation that sends employees into the caves of Hoxxes IV to extract resources and complete other various missions while defending against waves of alien bugs. Optionally, you can play by yourself as well if you’re a loner and don’t have any friends to play with. The game includes four classes for the player to choose from to help aid in your fight against the aliens. Additionally, the game offers a wide range of customization, upgrading, and specialization with a simple but extensive perk system. A season pass keeps new and returning players engaged with a constant stream of new content and collectibles.
All in all, “Deep Rock Galactic” is a fun indie game with unique characters and setting that bring a fresh take to a video game market oversaturated with staleness and Triple A failures. Hopping onto a call with some friends and diving into one of the many missions is guaranteed to be full of exciting moments, from narrowly surviving a wave of explosive bugs to racing to the ship before it leaves you behind. With an extensive, well put together tutorial newcomers won’t be overwhelmed by the game’s plethora of content, either. It’s all-around a great game that is sure to keep you and your friends entertained for hours. My only complaint is that after a while the enemies can seem a bit repetitive, which could be remedied if the developers were to add more unique enemies to the game. Regardless, it’s still a really enjoyable playthrough and I recommend it to anyone who plays first person shooter games or wants to be a dwarf gunning down aliens with a machine gun.
