Last summer I was thinking about doing a sport and participating a lot this school year, and football came to my mind. How? When my brother, my mother and I were going for our doctor’s appointment for a check up, my mom said, “Your body looks like you play football.” And I was like, “You’re right mom, maybe I should play football until I get tired of it.”
So I reached out to a friend that I met last year because he plays football. I said, “Yo Cam, do you know how to register for football?” He sent me the link to “Titans Football Preseason Schedule.” It had everything I needed in order to play for the team. After I registered, I met Coach Kris Jordan. He was really aggressive when I first saw him, but he’s actually a nice guy! When I went outside for my first day of practice, I met Coach Jose Demar; he was very very nice. He gave me a lot of positive energy so I didn’t give up early.
Coach Kris Jordan
The first question I asked Jordan was, “What position in football do you love coaching the most and why?”
His response was, “I love coaching all of them. Defense is more of my specialty, but I just love coaching in general. I
love the bond and relationship I get to build with my players, not just for a season but hopefully for life.”
The next question I asked him was, “Who inspired you to coach football?”, to which he said: “Honestly, it was Coach Hines. I grew up watching him play football which made me want to do well , and then I loved watching his passion for coaching in high school. So I started at youth, and then when I had the opportunity to coach high school, I was lucky to get to coach with Coach Hines.”
“Thank you for your time, Coach,” I said. He responded, “Yes Sir.” Now, I’m gonna switch up with
Coach Jose Demar.
Coach Jose
The first question I asked Demar was, “Where did you get your sunglasses from?” to which he said, “I found them from the mall.” The next question I asked him was, “How are you liking this football season so far?”
he said, “I’m loving it man.” Then I asked him, “How do you think I’m doing in my rookie year so far?”, to which he said, “You’re a developing man, the first time I saw you in practice, you were struggling, and when we put you on the field, you didn’t know what you were doing, and that’s our fault. But a few weeks later, when I saw you practicing as a lineman, you ‘re doing phenomenal, you’re doing great, kid, keep it up.”
And then I asked him, “What do you look forward to in the players this season?”, to which he said, “Compete, work hard, be coachable, and make other players around you better.”
Then I asked him, “Would you rather be like Coach Kris or Coach OB, and why?” to which he said, “Every coach, coaches are different so I choose both.” And finally, “What was your favorite part of your childhood?” he responded, “I had a good life.”
Both of these coaches are doing a phenomenal job. Their discipline motivated me to not be lazy everyday. Every time I ask them what should I eat and drink, they recommend eating at the subway restaurant and drinking liquid iv. And when I ate a sub and washed it down with liquid IV, It gave me energy. I will never forget these coaches, I love them.
