Mr. Andrew Miller is one of the mathematics teachers here, who has been working at Tuscarora High School for six years now.
some may wonder what made your teachers want to be a teacher. Well one day, Miller had said, “I was always good at school and my mom was a teacher” along with “I like to work with people and I enjoy meeting people I teach.” Since 2019, he’s been teaching here at THS with that motto.
Some people might think, what if your math teacher didn’t like math but they were teaching it? For Miller, this was not the case. Miller said he loved math, saying, “I actually do math in my free time.”
During his interview he had been asked how his new club was going and he had stated, that it’s “crowded,” and “we are still getting started and still have a lot of stuff to figure out but it’s going good.” He had started a car club this year with 22 students joining it and still has people currently joining. During this club he hopes that people who don’t know anything about cars could learn at least one thing while they are in that club and enjoy it while doing it.
How would other students describe you?
“It’s hard to say. I know a lot of kids don’t like math, but hopefully they like my class some. I hope students think of me as a tough but fair teacher, who cares about them and what they learn.” Miller had stated. This is showing that he knows most students don’t like math but he hopes that the students who take Miller’s class enjoy it. This shows students that he wants his classroom to be a space where students feel supported and engaged, despite their feelings about the subject itself.
