If you have plans in Downtown Frederick this Saturday Sept. 14, be careful, there is a movie being filmed Downtown; some streets and sidewalks will be closed for the filming. The sidewalk on West All Saints Street and Asbury Methodist Church will be closed from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Court Street between West Church and West Patrick street will be closed from 1 to 8 p.m.
This movie will be a docudrama based off of the book “From the Brink to Brilliant: The Revitalization of Downtown Frederick” by Kate McDermott. The film will be called “Boomtown,” it will tell the story on how Downtown Frederick became what it is today.
Actors will be dressed in plain clothes and in police uniforms. On Saturday there will be a privately owned vehicle depicting a historic police car.
Off-duty Frederick police officers will be there.
“Boomtown” is a 2-part Docufilm, part 1 takes place in Downtown Frederick between 1945-1980’s. The movie goes into detail about “Amos Brown, a black photojournalist, is hired by the local newspaper to investigate the actions of a certain group of revolutionaries who threaten the establishment in their Downtown.
