The Tuscarora Titans boys varsity basketball team hosted Quince Orchard for senior night. Before the game all of the senior basketball players and cheerleaders were escorted onto the court with their parents. Tuscarora started off the night hot, making 3-pointers, difficult layups, and a couple fade-away jump shots, taking an early 18-7 lead. Tuscarora senior, Obe Noel, nailed back to back 3-pointers getting the student section pumped up and roaring, scaring off the cougars.

The Titans started off the second quarter on fire, coming out making deep 3-pointers and easy breakaway lay ups. With buckets from Alex Morrow, Obe Noel , and Jaylen Washington, all got the crowd hyped up with their unbelievable acrobatic, high flying, buckets. Quince Orchard continued to struggle in the second quarter due to Tuscarora’s strap defense.

The first half was all Tuscarora, leading 31-20 going into the halftime break. The Quince Orchard Cougars came out fired up and strong entering the third quarter, grabbing the ball and forcing steals from the Titans, and turned those steals into easy points. In the final seconds of the quarter the Cougars held the ball and pulled a 3-pointer beating the buzzer taking the game within one point. Tuscarora lead entering the fourth quarter, 36-35.

For the first time of the night, the Quince Orchard Cougars had taken the lead, 41 to 40 with 5:30 left in the fourth. Marcus Waddy weaved in and out of players getting the the rim and laying it up for a hard fought bucket, bringing the Titans back within one. Jaylen Washington hit a nail biting 3-pointers, circling the rim and finally falling in, with 3:30 left in the game, it gave the Titans a two point lead. Seconds later, Tuscarora Senior, Kevin Bell strategically lays up the ball against the glass, giving the Titans a 47 to 43 lead. Forcing Quince Orchard to call a frantic time out with 2:55 left, as the game slowly slips out of their hand. “Sink it Obe, Sink it hey” is chanted by our cheerleaders as Obe lines up at the free throw line for two shots because the Cougars desperately needed to stop the game clock. At this point the Quince Orchard COugars are down by 8 with less than two minutes left in the game. The Titans complete their regular season with a record of 19-2 and a final score of 54-46 against the Quince Orchard Cougars.

Next Tuesday (2/21/17) night at 7pm, the Tuscarora Titans take on local rival Oakdale Bears in the CMC Championship game at Hood College.
